  • How Ayurveda works?
When a person is imbalanced or stressed, they’re likely to develop disease. Ayurveda focuses on implementing lifestyle interventions and natural treatments, therapies, and remedies to provide balance in your physical body, mind, spirit, and the world around you. Every individual is unique, and Ayurveda defines a person’s specific constitution or prakriti. According to Ayurveda, these prakriti determine your physical, psychological, behavioral and immunological traits. Different constitutions respond to different treatments, so what works for you might not work for someone else.
  • What is to be avoided according to ayurveda?
Ayurveda recommends avoiding certain foods and lifestyle habits that can disrupt the balance of the doshas and lead to imbalances and disease. These include processed and packaged foods, excessive sugar, caffeine, alcohol, smoking, overeating, late nights, and excessive stress. It also suggests avoiding foods that are not suitable for one's dosha or health condition, such as heavy or oily foods for those with kapha imbalances or spicy and sour foods for those with pitta imbalances.
  • What ailments can Ayurveda help with?
Ayurveda can help with a range of ailments such as digestive issues, skin problems, respiratory problems, joint pain, stress, hormonal imbalances, chronic conditions, detoxification, immune system support, and disease prevention. However, it is important to note that Ayurveda should not be used as a substitute for conventional medical treatment for serious illnesses and should always be practiced under the guidance of a qualified practitioner.
  • Does ayurveda help with mental wellbeing?
Yes, Ayurveda can help with mental well-being. In Ayurveda, mental health is considered an integral part of overall health and well-being, and practices such as meditation, yoga, and Pranayama (breathing exercises) are used to promote mental balance and reduce stress and anxiety. Ayurveda is slow process and should not be used as substitute for more serious ailments.
  • Does ayurveda refer to herbs and spices only?

While herbs and spices are an important part of Ayurveda and are used for their medicinal properties, Ayurveda is a holistic system of healthcare that includes dietary and lifestyle practices, as well as various other therapies and treatments, such as yoga, meditation, massage, and cleansing practices. Ayurveda emphasizes the balance of the mind, body, and spirit and focuses on promoting overall health and well-being rather than just treating symptoms or diseases.

  • What are Doshas?
According to Ayurvedic philosophy, each person’s constitution is made up of three doshas: vata, pitta and Kapha. You can think of doshas as energy types: each of these doshas is believed to dictate your emotional strengths and weaknesses, the foods your body needs and wants, the exercises that might work the best for you and more. Ayurvedic practitioners seek to help you find a balance among all three doshas. When the doshas are out of balance, illness occurs. The Ayurvedic practitioner uses nutrition, stress management, exercise and sometimes herbs to help a person regain health and balance.

We find that this is unnecessarily restrictive and not particularly helpful because people tend to become attached to what they can and can’t eat. It can change based on the season and the individual’s condition. Sugandha's approach is to offer a simple framework for creating sattvic meals that balance all doshas. Our approach is flexible, eliminates confusion, and allows for great creativity and satisfaction.
